The Vibe
A basecamp built for the hunt and the open country around it. Hunters, anglers, and road trippers trade stories in the club room between trips out, with big northwest Colorado sunsets to close the day.
Tunatua RV Resort sits at 4175 West US-40, 5 minutes from downtown Craig in northwest Colorado’s hunting country, with the Yampa River minutes away. It will open on November 1st and was built for the season: every site is full hookup with 30 and 50-amp service and pull-through access, with a heated bathhouse, laundry, and a club room where hunters, anglers, and road trippers compare notes between trips out.
Public land is close. GMU 13 runs 20 to 45 minutes out, GMU 211 about 30 to 60, GMU 12 about 35 to 60, with BLM access throughout (verify boundaries on OnX or the Colorado Hunting Atlas). ATVs and UTVs are welcome with check-in registration: ride to your site at posted speeds, no joyriding in the resort. Verizon and AT&T both hold signal. We built an elk-hunting basecamp guide for Craig that covers units, processors, and timing, and a longer read on hunting northwest Colorado for planning the trip.
Outside of hunting season, the Yampa carries the park. Floating, wade fishing, and a stretch of river that doesn’t get crowded. Our guide to fishing and floating the Yampa at Craig has put-ins and seasons. Dinosaur National Monument is 90 minutes west; our Dinosaur camping guide covers the drive.
Check-in is 3 p.m. (early check-in available for a fee). The park is pet-friendly, and Craig covers fuel, groceries, and meat processing. For the rest of the town’s options, see RV parks in Craig.
