Is drinking allowed at the beach or pool?

Yes, alcohol is allowed but only in spill-proof containers. We encourage everyone to enjoy responsibly and help keep our common areas clean.

Can we swim in the lake?

The swim beach is dry at current lake levels, and the Corps expects beaches around Hartwell to stay unusable while the lake is held at 656 feet. Wading in from the bank is at your own risk; there's no lifeguard, and the bottom drops off unevenly where the water has pulled back. The pool is open as usual.

Is fishing catch-and-release or can we keep what we catch?

Fishing at Lake Hartwell is allowed, and you may keep your catch. Just make sure to follow all local fishing regulations during your stay. Bank fishing is good at low water; fish concentrate as the lake drops.

Can I bring my own boat or kayak?

Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards, yes. Carry them down and put in from the bank. Trailered boats can't launch here right now; the ramp is closed until further notice. See the Lake Level Update above for where to launch.

Can I bring my own golf cart?

Yes, personal golf carts are allowed within the park. Please make sure your cart is operated safely and follows all posted speed limits.

Are the bathrooms and showers ADA-accessible?

Yes, one of our restrooms is ADA-accessible for guests with disabilities. You can get the access code from management upon check-in.

Is there a laundry facility on-site?

Yes, we have an on-site laundry facility available for guest use. It’s open daily so you can easily freshen up your clothes during your stay.

Are the showers open 24 hours a day?

Yes, our shower facilities are open 24/7 for your convenience.

Do all sites have picnic tables?

Yes, every site comes with its own picnic table. If you need an additional one, let our staff know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Is there a dump station on-site?

Yes, we have a dump station available for guests to use. Please contact the office if you need help locating it.

Is there a store on-site?

Yes, we have a small convenience store that carries basic camping and household supplies. It’s perfect for grabbing last-minute items during your stay.

Are there food options available on-site?

We don’t have a restaurant or snack shack, but there are great dining spots nearby. Our staff can recommend local favorites if you’d like suggestions.

Do you offer free Wi-Fi?

Can I bring my own firewood?

Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own firewood for campfires.

Are there age requirements to rent a cabin or RV site?

Yes, guests must be at least 18 years old to reserve and stay at any RV site or cabin. A valid ID will be required upon check-in for verification.

Is an ID required at check-in?

Yes, all adults staying must present a valid government-issued ID at check-in. This ensures a safe and secure environment for all guests.

Is propane available on-site?

No, we don’t currently sell propane on-site. However, nearby stations and stores offer refills and tanks if you need them.

Can I fill my freshwater tank on-site?

Unfortunately, we don’t provide freshwater filling on the property. We recommend filling your tank before arrival to avoid any inconvenience.

How many people are included in my site rental?

Each site rental includes up to four people in the base rate. If your group is larger, you can add more guests for an additional fee per person.

How much does it cost to add more guests to my reservation?

Each extra guest is $12 per night. Please make sure all additional guests are registered with the office before or upon arrival.

Do my visitors need parking or day passes?

Yes, all visitors are required to have a parking or day pass to enter the property. This helps us manage guest capacity and ensure everyone’s safety and comfort.

Can my visitors use the pool and other amenities?

Yes, visitors are welcome to enjoy all park amenities. The rate is $8 per person for full park access, or $5 per person if they’re only using the pool.

Are emotional support or companion animals allowed at no cost?

Yes, up to two pets are welcome at no additional charge. If you’re bringing more than two, a small pet fee may apply.

Does my dog need to be on a leash?

Yes, dogs must remain on a leash at all times while outside your site. This is for the safety of your pet and consideration of other guests.

Can my dog join me at the beach?

Yes, dogs are welcome to join you at the beach. Just keep them close and clean up after them so everyone can enjoy the space. The beach is dry ground right now with the lake low, so it's more of a walk than a swim for them.

Can I work on my car or RV in the park?

Minor maintenance or repairs are allowed, such as fixing small issues or checking tires. For major repairs or extended work, please check with management first.

Can I wash my RV on-site?

Yes, you may wash your RV for a $25 fee. This fee helps us manage water use and maintain the cleanliness of the park.

Can I sleep in my car at an RV site?

Yes, short-term car stays are allowed at RV sites. However, we recommend using proper camping equipment for comfort and safety during your stay.

Can I receive mail or packages during my stay?

Yes, long-term guests are welcome to receive mail and package deliveries for pick up at the office. Please check with the office before having items sent so we can ensure proper handling.

Can I set up a tent at my RV or cabin site?

Yes, one small tent is allowed per RV or cabin site if space permits. This is ideal for families who want an extra sleeping area for short-term stays.

How many tents are allowed per tent site?

You can set up to two tents per tent site. This allows small groups or families to enjoy the outdoors together comfortably.

Is there overflow parking for extra vehicles?

Yes, we have overflow parking available for extra cars, trailers, or boats. Please let the office know upon check-in so we can guide you to the right area (Please note the boat ramp is closed, so a trailered boat parked here stays on the trailer).

Do you allow triple towing?

Yes, triple towing is permitted within the property. Once you reach your site, all towed vehicles must be detached for safety and space management.

Where is smoking permitted?

Smoking is allowed outdoors throughout the park but is not permitted inside any buildings. Please dispose of cigarette waste properly to help keep the park clean.

How can I cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation through our call center, at the office, or online. Be sure to review our cancellation policy for any applicable fees or deadlines.

Is the pool open year-round?

Our pool is open during the warmer months and closed for the winter season. Exact opening and closing dates may vary depending on the weather.

What are the pool hours?

During high season, the pool is open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. In the low season, it’s open from 9:00 AM until dusk so our team can safely close and maintain the area. The pool is closed from fall until spring depending on the weather.

About the Park

The Point sits at the end of Ponderosa Point Road, on a finger of land that pushes into Lake Hartwell from the South Carolina side. 100+ RV sites, cabins, and tent sites, all within walking distance of the water. The boat ramp is on the property, so mornings start at the dock instead of in a truck line at a public launch.

Lake Hartwell runs 56,000 acres and 962 miles of shoreline across the Georgia line, and it’s a working bass lake (the Bassmaster Elite Series stops here). Regulars come for the fishing, the sand beach, and a staff that remembers their names. Clemson is 30 minutes east, which means game-day Saturdays fill the park.

We’re 2.6 miles off I-85. Office is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 to 5; the reservation line runs 7 days a week until 10 pm Pacific.

The Vibe

This is a water park in the literal sense. Mornings start at the boat ramp, days run on the lake, and the sand beach with lake swimming pulls everyone back to the water's edge. Open horizon, easy welcome.

A Typical Day

Launch the boat early off the ramp, fish or kayak the coves through the afternoon, swim off the sand beach, then play tennis or mini golf before dinner. The pool and dog park fill the gaps.

Best For

It fits anglers and lake families. Sites carry 50-amp and water hookups in pull-through layouts, and cabins plus tent sites mean you can show up by RV, by tent, or stay in lodging.

Good to Know

The road dead-ends into the park, so follow the resort signs off SC 24 and Neal Ferry. Office is closed Sundays and Mondays. Sites carry 50-amp and water but check ahead on full hookups.

Is there a maximum stay limit?

No, guests are welcome to stay as long as they’d like. Whether you’re here for a weekend getaway or a long-term stay, we’re happy to accommodate you.

Park Amenities

Is Lake Hartwell low right now?

Yes. The lake sat near 651 feet in late August 2026, about 9 feet below its usual summer level of 660, and it's going to stay low. Drought pulled it down this year, and the Army Corps of Engineers has now set a new year-round target of 656 feet while a dike near Clemson is repaired. Expect exposed shoreline, longer walks to the water, and a very different look than the photos in our gallery.

Why is the Corps holding the lake down?

The Clemson Lower Diversion Dam Saddle Dike, an earthen structure that helps hold back the lake near Clemson University, has water seeping through it. The Corps has tracked the problem since 2015 and says it's getting worse. Keeping the lake lower reduces pressure on the dike until it's fixed.

How long will this last?

Years. The Corps says the safety study alone can take up to 2 years, and design, funding, and construction could take 5 to 10 years or more after that. Local reporting has put the total at 7 to 10 years. Nobody has a firm end date, so plan around a low lake for the foreseeable future.

Can I still launch my boat at the park?

No. The boat ramp is closed until further notice. The water has pulled back past the end of the ramp, and there's no launching from the shoreline with a trailer. If you're bringing a boat, plan to launch at a public Corps ramp. The Corps keeps a list of which ramps around the lake are still open at sas.usace.army.mil/Missions/Hartwell-Dam-and-Lake. Check it before you tow. Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards can still go in from the bank.

What about the dock and the swim beach?

We're moving the dock down to the new waterline as soon as we are able. Until it's reset, treat it as closed. The swim beach is dry at current levels; the Corps says beaches around the lake stay unusable below 657 feet, so don't count on lake swimming this season. The pool is open as usual.

Is the lake still worth visiting?

Hartwell is 56,000 acres. At 651 feet it's still a big, fishable lake, and the drawdown has opened up new bank access in spots that were underwater last year. Kayaks and canoes launch fine from the shore. Anglers tend to like low water: fish concentrate. What changes is convenience, mostly around the ramp and the beach, and we'd rather you know that before you book than after.

Where do I get the latest?

Call the office at (839) 210-0019 (closed Sundays and Mondays) for current ramp and dock status. For lake-wide updates, the Corps posts at the link above and on the Savannah District Facebook page, and takes questions at CESAS-HartwellPoolRestriction@usace.army.mil. The Corps is also holding virtual public sessions in September 2026 and in-person meetings in November 2026.
